Examination Content Outline

All questions on the exam relate to competencies as outlined in the book Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy: Description of Specialty Practice (DSP), 1997, 2007. The content outline lists major content areas and components of the exam. The exam is composed of case histories, each accompanied by multiple-choice questions. The cardiovascular and pulmonary diagnosis that may be included in the exam content are listed below with their frequency of occurrence.

1. Professional behaviors: Leadership, Education, and Administration (10%)

2. Consultation (4%)

3. Evidence-based practice (10%)

4. History taking and systems review (13%)

5. Test and measures (10%)

6. Diagnosis, prognosis and outcome determination (15%)

7. Procedural interventions (14%)

8. Coordination, communication and documentation (12%)

9. Foundational, clinical and behavioral sciences (12%)
